Today we took some time to celebrate the successes of our students on Wikipedia!

and many more…

But first, I asked students to reflect on the following questions (any students that did not do this MUST; please email me your answers at alexa.garvoille@dpsnc.net or bring them on Monday when we return):

  1. What was the biggest challenge for you in this project?
  2. What are you most proud of?
  3. What did you learn about writing? How did your skills improve?
  4. Will you make edits to Wikipedia in the future?
  5. What grade do you think you deserve and why?

Then we talked about how the project progressed from the conference I attended last summer to now. I showed students pictures from the Ed-Media 2009 Conference in Hawaii where many of my colleagues were surprised by the idea of allowing 9th graders to edit Wikipedia article. But, we proved them wrong!

Then we ate some treats and looked at everyone’s Wikipedia edits on my watchlist. I will post more info here about our edits soon!

HW: I will take any make-up work on Monday when we return. Also, I will post updated grades on the page over break. I’ll make a post about it when I do.

Have a great spring break! Congratulations on all the amazing work you’ve done!
